A Big Year for the Charity Reform Movement
Our 2022 findings, publications, conversations, and political prospects made it clearer than ever that we need meaningful charity reform – and that a strong majority agrees.
Any serious policy agenda geared towards combating inequality and raising living standards for the vast majority must look to ultra-high earners in the top 0.1 percent, who wield disproportionate economic and political power.
On Tuesday, June 25, the Economic Policy Institute and the Institute for Policy Studies will host a day-long conference on “Taxing the (Very) Rich.”A prestigious group of policy experts and activists will discuss the necessity of raising taxes on the very rich, and debate various proposals for doing so.
Paul Krugman, Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill.), and Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) will deliver keynote addresses and Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash.) will speak at a closing reception.
